Cathays is the main student area of Cardiff located just outside the city centre.
Cathays begins immediately behind the
Students’ Union, off Senghennydd Road, and stretches back to Crwys Road.
Cathays is a hub of student life with
a lively, buzzing atmosphere during term time.
Its close proximity to the main university campus provides a convenient
location for those who like to be within walking distance of all that the
campus has to offer.
Cathays is a vibrant, fun place to live with all essentials nearby; doctors' surgeries, supermarkets, numerous take-aways, pubs, cafes and sandwich bars on Salisbury Road.
Cathays offers many opportunities and
venues in which to socialise. There are
a number of pubs on your doorstep including the Woodville on Woodville Road,
the Crwys on Crwys Road and the Pen and Wig behind Park Place which are very popular amongst the student population. The area also boasts plenty of restaurants and
cafes offering a variety of culinary options throughout the day and night with
the main clusters around Salisbury Road and Crwys Road.
Living in Cathays is lively. I live with people from around the world and it is a great opportunity to make friends. I live on Colum Road, which is quite busy, being close to the City Centre, the beautiful Bute Park and all the main buildings of Cardiff University. It is very convenient and comfortable!
