Cardiff Bay

Cardiff Bay covers a large area, the vast majority of which has modern, comfortable accommodation much within easy walking distance or a short train ride to the city centre and university.

Location

The north of Cardiff Bay lies in close proximity to the city centre and stretches south to Penarth. From the city centre end it is only a 20 minute walk to the main University building while the southern points are served by bus and train links into the city centre.

Atmosphere and amenities

The Bay is an exciting, developing part of Cardiff providing modern accommodation with great sea views.  Predominantly apartment accommodation, the majority tend to be privately owned with some complexes including a pool and gym access within the rental cost. 

The waterfront area of Mermaid Quay offers a range of restaurants, bars and shops including Tesco and Sainsbury's and a number of smaller boutique shops.  The barrage provides a great opportunity for a stroll or run and the close proximity to the International sports village provides access to a pool, large gym, ice skating rink and a white water facility. 

The Wales Millennium Centre is right on your doorstep providing the chance to see both local and touring theatre and opera throughout the year.  Roald Dahl Plass and Cardiff Bay also hosts many events throughout the year including an International Food Festival and Cardiff Harbour Festival.

Socialising

Mermaid Quay provides a hub for socialising with  lots of bars and clubs, including  Bar Cwtch,  Terra Nova and Glee comedy club, to name but a few. Those looking for a spot of culture can check out the Millennium Centre, which offers opera, dance, theatre and a range of other performance styles throughout the year.  There are also many dining opportunities including Italian, Sushi, Vegan and Indian with many restaurants boasting waterfront views.
