Q1. In what ways does Cardiff University work with companies?
We work with companies in a number of ways, from collaborative research, to student placements; from knowledge exchange to business networking & events and technology licensing to specialist training and continuing professional development. Take a look at our Open for Business publication to find out more.
Q2. I’d like to have a graduate work at my company on a specific development project for a set time - is this possible?
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are set up by UK Government to enable businesses to access expertise at universities and employ graduates to work on projects under the joint supervision of company and academic staff. A typical project will require 40% funding from the business and attract 60% Government funding. If you have a strategic project (e.g. business improvement, new product development), please visit Cardiff University’s KTP website to find out more about the potential support available.

Q3. We’ve just completed our company appraisals and one of the courses would be suitable for many of our employees. Can we block book a course?
Yes you can, but if you feel your team would benefit from a tailor made course our Professional Development Team can help you design a course to meet your training needs.
Q4. Do you provide in-house training for organisations?
Yes in-house training is a cost-effective option if your organisation has a number of delegates who would benefit from attending a particular course. Our Open for Business Programme of courses can be tailored to suit your organisations specific training requirements. Development of bespoke courses is also available. Delivery can take place either at your organisation or within the Centre for Lifelong Learning. Contact the Professional Development Team to discuss your training needs.
Q5. My company would like to recruit Cardiff graduates – how do I reach your students?
Our Careers team will discuss with you the most appropriate way to reach our students – from Careers Fairs, to Employer presentations and from Drop-Ins to Recruiting Visits.
Q6. Will you advertise our vacancies?
Careers & Employability can help you to advertise your organisation, vacancies and opportunities easily and effectively. Our free on-line Vacancy Listings service for all your student and graduate vacancies is simple to use to advertise vacancies across the UK and overseas. Vacancies are handled online - you post your own adverts for display to our students. We use Prospects Net and are compatible with other UK universities using the same system.
