Wales Gene Park

The Wales Gene Park is delivering advances in this important area of medical science — and helping to establish high calibre biosciences jobs in Wales.
It was established by Cardiff University, with financial backing from the Welsh Assembly Government and the Department of Trade and Industry, and in partnership with NHS Wales and the Science Centre Techniquest. Its activities include:
Identifying the genetic causes of disease
Translating research into medical practice
Business development of genetic technologies
Professional education
Promoting understanding of genetics among healthcare staff and schools through an active education programme
Stimulating public debate
As well as directly benefiting patients in Wales, the Wales Gene Park has fostered links between researchers in Wales and academic and commercial partners internationally.
