The Application Process
Daycare applications are assessed by the Financial Support team to agreed rules. Examples of the assessments will soon be available on the website.
The assessment will deduct set university hardship expenditure figures including the cost of childcare from your income. These expenditure figures may not include all expenditure you have, as they are minimum hardship figures. Examples of calculations are listed on our website.
|Minus qualifying expenditure||£11,000|
|Available income for childcare||£1,000|
|Cost of childcare||£1,500 (maximum help is £750 e.g. 50%)|
- Students will be expected to show how they will pay for the remaining childcare costs not covered by an award.
- This will be a minimum of 50% of the costs.
How long will an assessment take?
Incomplete applications delay the assessment process. Normally assessments of completed applications will be assessed within 10 working days.
How will I be paid?
Payments will be paid directly to the university daycare centre in all cases and any award deducted from your invoiced costs.
Can I apply more than once?
You can apply each academic year and for the first term of your writing up period only. Within an academic year you will be contacted at the start of each term to confirm if your circumstances have changed. If there is no change to your financial details any award granted in one term will normally be continued to subsequent terms in the same academic year.
