Participation in International Archaeological Digs

Sraah Doherty Phd Archaeology, Egypt and Jessica Smith 2nd year Undergraduate, Iceland.

Jessica used her grant to take part in a 6 week internship at the national museum in Iceland.  The experience provided me with skills and new techniques I could not get in the classroom.  This opportunity arose through the Cardiff University Alumni network.

Sarah was invited to join the excavations undertaken by the universities of Liverpool and Copenhagen in Egypt where the ladies of the royal harem lived.  My specialism is pottery technology and we had the chance to open our own excavation squares.  As a result of involvement in this project two new colleagues have expressed interest I me working with them on their established projects.  The project has  substantially broadened my horizons and increased my skills.
