British Idealism Specialist Group

Edward Caird
The Specialist Group was established in response to the exponential proliferation of interest in the philosophy of the British Idealists and the contributions they made to a wide range of debates in philosophy, aesthetics, politics and welfare. Originally the group was set-up by Stamatoula Pagakou, who now teaches in Cyprus, with David Boucher and Andrew Vincent as co-convenors, and Maria Dimova-Cookson as Treasurer.
The group organizes panels at every Political Studies annual conference, and stages seminars and conferences throughout the year on different aspects of British Idealism and its wider relations in close cooperation with colleagues from Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and Italy. The Group has close links with the Centre for the Study of British Idealism at Hull University, and the British Idealism and Collingwood Centre at Cardiff University. The latter is the home of the journal British Idealism and Collingwood Studies, incorporating Bradley Studies and is the principal publication that supports the activities of the Specialist Group.
The aim of this web-site is to provide information about the Specialist Group, and about forthcoming activities as well as information of a more general nature posted by members of the Specialist Group or broader British Idealist community.
