International Relations & Politics

At Cardiff we cover a broad range of areas in the study of Politics, including political theory, EU and domestic political systems, public policy and International Relations.

Undergraduate

Our staff teach on a wide range of Single and Joint Honours Politics degrees to undergraduates, including the Cardiff-Bordeaux Joint Degree/Diploma.

International Relations and Politics

The teaching on our International Relations and Politics degree is via lectures and seminars, and we have excellent library and computing facilities. Seminars are kept small and usually average no more than 12-15 students. We also offer International Relations and Politics with a Language - students take 20 credits in the first and second year in French, German, Italian or Spanish.

Postgraduate

At postgraduate level we offer Masters degrees in Politics, Public Policy, International Relations and Political Theory. We also offer the opportunity to study for a PhD in Politics.

Our aim is to develop in students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, a critical understanding of key aspects of political thought and modern politics, especially European politics and international relations, along with a command of associated transferable skills.

All Politics staff are research-active, especially in the areas noted above, whilst the Wales Governance Centre addresses contemporary issues in Welsh politics. The Collingwood and British Idealism centre focuses on research into the life cycle and philosophy of Collingwood and other British Idealists.
