Cochrane Building

Contractor: Vinci Construction
Proposed Start Date: May 2010
Estimated Current Completion Date: July 2011
Value: £18m
Scope of Works:
The proposed building will provide a focus for excellence in medical education, where students are the priority group. The physical infrastructure will enable and facilitate the delivery of a twenty-first century Medical Undergraduate curriculum by providing appropriately sized and located seminar rooms to support small group teaching, a clinical simulation suite set up exactly like an NHS ward, and state of the art clinical skills facilities.
The building will also house a health related library. This will replace the current Duthie Library with a state of the art library and computing facilities which will focus teaching and learning at one central location.
The proposed building will also create a focal point for the School of Medicine on the Heath Park campus.
This project is part of the Campus Horizons Investment Strategy to transform the working environment throughout the University estate.
