The Centre for Language and Communication Research is internationally known for its high quality innovative research addressing fundamental questions about how communication is achieved by linguistic and non-linguistic means. Theoretical, descriptive and practical approaches are taken to a broad range of data types, informing many areas of central interest across social, psychological and professional spheres, including international and global relations, law, health, the workplace, the media, and language education.
We have an international reputation as field leaders in sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, multimodal communication, systemic functional linguistics, forensic linguistics, and formulaic language.
