Gothic Locations: Wales and West Gothic Network Inaugural Conference

19 September 2008, 10am - 5pm

Location: Cardiff University

Keynote Speakers: Professor Jane Aaron and Professor Nick Groom

‘Gothic Locations’ is jointly organised by the University of Glamorgan and Cardiff University. It will be held at Cardiff University.

The conference will address how the Gothic represents the notion of ‘place’ as a literary, cultural, historical, or ideological formation. Themes which may be included are:

The Wales and West Gothic Network was established in 2007 in order to share ideas and to develop a research culture founded on the Gothic forms which are relevant to the location of the participating institutions. The Network consists of the Universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor, Bath Spa, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Glamorgan, Swansea, and the West of England.

The Call for Papers is now closed. Papers which reflect on the areas where these institutions are located were particularly welcomed, although the conference organisers welcomed papers which address any aspect of the conference theme.
