English Literature and Cultural Criticism

English Literature at Cardiff has long been recognised for its high academic standards, friendliness and dynamic teaching and research. Our work covers the full range of English Literature, from Old and Middle English, through Shakespeare, the eighteenth century and the Victorians to contemporary fiction, postmodern American poetry and Creative Writing. Our close relationship with the Centre for Critical and Cultural Theory is both stimulating and productive.

Within our Single Honours and Joint Honours degrees in English Literature we also offer a range of innovative modules in Cultural Criticism relating closely to staff research interests in film, music, and visual culture. Additional activities include visiting speakers, regular workshops, research seminars and related student societies.

International Students

We very much welcome applications from students from outside the UK, whether you wish to study on a full-time basis, or spend a year-abroad with us.
