Working Title: Turning the Page: How Creative Writing Impacts Victims of Domestic Violence

My research project will explore how creative writing can improve the lives of young people exposed to domestic violence. In particular, it will examine the impact that creative writing can have on children and young people from the ages of eight to eighteen accessing services from Women’s Aid and other domestic abuse organizations in Wales. This study will address the following research questions: Can participating in creative writing workshops improve the self-awareness of children and young people exposed to domestic violence? Can creative writing increase the self-confidence and motivation of children and young people accessing domestic violence services? And, can creative writing help children and young people from abusive homes make healthier decisions about themselves and their relationships?
