PhD Research

I am interested in using word association (WA) response data to make inferences about cognitive processes in language learners.  Ultimately, I hope to create a model that accounts for both L2 lexical processes and the organization of L2 vocabulary in the mental lexicon.  At the same time I wish to examine methodological issues (response categorization, cue order, etc.) that underpin all WA research.

I have been an English language teacher in Japan for more than 15 years and have taught in a variety of contexts and to learners at a variety of proficiency levels.  I currently hold the position of Associate Professor in the Interdepartmental English Language Program at Dokkyo University, Japan, where I teach English for General Academic Purposes to Japanese natives majoring in German, French, Law, Economics and Management.
