Applications from potential PhD students in any area of the Renaissance will be welcome, but particularly in the field of textual editing and the textual histories of Shakespeare's plays as well as the other aspects of Shakespeare, including film.

Research
Martin Coyle is General Editor of the New Casebooks Series and the Critical Issues Series. He is currently working on books on Richard II and Hamlet, having recently completed, with John Peck, A Brief History of English Literature. He is convenor of the MA in English Literature on which he teaches courses on Violent Death in Renaissance Drama and Constructing Shakespeare, both concerned with the production of cultural meanings and the transitions between periods of literary history. Current supervisions for PhD include a thesis on editions of Marlowe and on feminist editing of Shakespeare. Recent projects include a thesis on Spenser's Faerie Queene.
