The School is a world-leading centre in the subjects of Planning and Human Geography. These subjects are taught in the School through a suite of carefully-designed undergraduate courses that provide a stimulating educational experience.

It currently delivers three undergraduate courses:

Planning and Human Geography are subjects that play a major role in seeking to understand how places work and how to manage the challenges of social, economic and environmental change. The challenge of creating sustainable places and communities means that the subjects address a very wide range of issues, so you will find that the courses will offer something for you, whatever your specific interest in the built and natural environments. While geography provides the theoretical and analytical skills to understand both the nature of change and its impacts, planning translates this understanding into action to ensure a better quality of environment for present and future generations.

The School accepts around 75 undergraduates across these three courses in each year and therefore ensures a learning environment where there is opportunity for close contact with staff delivering the courses and modules. It is well-resourced and has an international reputation for both teaching and research. The wide ranging and specialist expertise of the School’s 50 members of staff ensures that all aspects of Planning and Human Geography are covered in our courses.

Course Transfer

Any student wishing to transfer from one degree programme to another would be able to do so provided s/he applies within two weeks of the start of the first semester. Such a move would depend on the student having the appropriate A-level subjects and grades, and be at the discretion of the Course Director. Under exceptional circumstances it may be possible for a student to transfer at the end of the first year, but again this would be at the discretion of the Course Director.
