How can we help?
Counselling can help you identify more clearly what is causing your anxiety, and help you to find more effective ways to manage it. This includes learning strategies to recognise and challenge unhelpful thoughts and refocus onto your strengths, along with techniques to relax your mind and body.
Anxiety is a normal emotional response to feeling out of control or under threat. In modern society that threat is more likely to be psychological than physical; too much pressure (from ourselves or others), too many problems or stresses to deal with at once, or a natural response to a one off trauma (such as a car accident), or an ongoing traumatic situation (like bullying or abuse).
You might be anxious about things in the past, criticising yourself for how you were in a situation, or struggling to cope with a past trauma. You may find yourself worrying about how you doing with your studies, or a difficult relationship, or worrying about being anxious! Or you may be feeling anxious about the future, having lots of ‘what if….’, worst case scenario, thoughts.
