Meet Delyth Liddell
Revd Delyth Liddell
Position / Job Title:
Methodist Chaplain at Cardiff University
As a part of the Chaplaincy team, I’m based at The Chaplaincy at 61 Park Place with my Anglican colleague Trystan Hughes and together we support students from a variety of Christian traditions, beliefs and backgrounds, along with many students who practice other religions or indeed have no particular faith at all. I believe passionately that Chaplaincy is a place for welcome to everyone, as an open and inclusive space, and I have a particular interest in supporting overseas students and LGBTplus students and the gay community. I attend Cathays Methodist Church, which is part of the Cardiff Circuit and I support the Cardiff Methodist Students in their efforts.
I’ve been a church minister since 2003, after doing my theology degree and ministry training here at Cardiff. My ministry has been throughout South Wales, and I am well known and have ministered in churches from the border (Chepstow and Monmouth) through to Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan. I was appointed the Methodist Chaplain to Cardiff University in 2010 and I also have an active role in ecumenism, serving on the Commission for Covenanted Churches in Wales.
Areas of Interest:
I am undertaking an MTh in Practical Theology with a particular focus on church in today’s world - mission within a secular environment. I’ve recently started jogging and my goal is to run a half-marathon this year! I love hanging out and playing volleyball on the beach at Barry Island (even in the winter!) and I play the flute with Cardiff Concert Orchestra. My favourite activity though, is eating and drinking with friends and family!
