Meet Delyth Liddell
Revd Delyth Liddell MTh
Position / Job Title:
Methodist Chaplain at Cardiff University
Chaplaincy is a place of welcome to everyone, as an open and inclusive space, and is available to students and staff of all faiths and religions, and none, and from all sections of the University community. I work closely with both my chaplaincy colleagues and university staff to ensure that the staff and students of Cardiff University find pastoral care and support when they need it. This ranges from personal one-to-one conversations for a specific need, to a casual coffee and a chat in all the variety of groups and meetings that are offered at The Chaplaincy at 61 Park Place. This is where I am based, along with the Anglican chaplain, and here you can find opportunities for worship, bible study and social events.
I have been Methodist Chaplain at Cardiff University since 2010 and have been a Methodist Church minister since 2003, after doing my practical theology degree here at Cardiff University. My ministry has been throughout South Wales, and I am well known and have ministered in churches from the border (Chepstow and Monmouth), in Newport, and in the Vale of Glamorgan. With my family, I now attend Cathays Methodist Church, which is part of the Cardiff Circuit and preach regularly on the circuit plan. I am also on the leadership of The Gathering Cardiff, an LGBT+ inclusive church that meets on Sunday evenings.
Areas of Interest:
My academic research is focused on inclusive church and mission in an LGBT+ context. My ministry is focused on fresh expressions of worship and growth in discipleship and spirituality, with a particular emphasis on pastoral care and grace for those around us. As a relatively new mother, I am enjoying watching my daughter discover the world around her and, as a family, we love to walk Dave (the dog) and to spend time on the beaches of West Wales.
