The Union Ideas Network
The Union Ideas Network (UIN) was relaunched in October 2010 with the support of Cardiff University’s Centre for Global Labour Research and is now run from Cardiff in association with the TUC.
The UIN aims to link unions with academics and policy makers interested in, and committed to, the continuing revitalisation and development of the trade union movement in the UK.
It brings together unions and labour academics to share information and research, debate the key issues and develop contacts.
As part of that, the UIN will be hosting a series of online discussions with specially commissioned pieces to set up each discussion. The first focuses on the union response to the Comprehensive Spending Review and the Government’s programme of cuts in the public sector.
It is introduced with a short paper from Steve Davies of the CGLR and the debate will be kept open for several weeks before it is summarised and responded to by Ed Heery of the CGLR.
The discussion forum is open to trade unionists and academics with an interest in labour issues. Just visit the website at http://unionetwork.org.uk/ and follow the instructions on how to register.
