PhD Applicants:
Cardiff Business School has an extensive range of research expertise available
to PhD students. You should contact individual faculty members by email
with your initial ideas for your Research Proposal. This will help you to
identify a potential supervisor and to develop and refine your Research
Proposal. Initial research plans often change, perhaps because the student
is unaware of on-going research in the field or perhaps to align the student's
research topic more closely to the interests and expertise of potential
supervisors. This is a very important stage in the application process and
you should consider your research plans very carefully. For example, although
Cardiff is a global business school with an international faculty, they
may not be an expert on your own country of origin. As a result, research
projects which adopt a comparative focus, for example between the UK and
your own country, are more likely to be of interest to potential supervisors
and more likely to produce analytically significant results.
Note: Only Professors and Doctors are eligible to act as PhD supervisors
