Communications and International Relations Division
The Communications and International Relations Division is responsible for the University’s activities overseas and for promoting the University to world, UK and internal audiences. This includes attracting and supporting overseas students, maintaining Cardiff University’s reputation for world-leading teaching and research, and engaging international, national and local communities with the University’s work.

The Division ensures support services are in place for more than 3,000 international students, representing more than 100 countries. This includes the provision of International Foundation and English Language teaching programmes. The Division also provides services and information for prospective students and is responsible for maintaining and building Cardiff’s extensive links with overseas institutions.

The Division’s Public Relations work plays an important part in building and maintaining the reputation of the University through effective communication to the public and to external and internal stakeholders. It communicates the achievements and aspirations of the University through a variety of media.
The Public Relations team is supporting the development and implementation of the Communication Strategy, a wide-ranging project aiming to improve communication with our staff, students and external audiences. Three communication strategy groups are chaired by the following Pro Vice-Chancellors: Professor Jonathan Osmond (Student Group), Professor Terry Threadgold (Staff Group) and Professor Ken Woodhouse (External Audiences Group).
Further information on public relations services
The Community Engagement Team assists all University colleagues in their engagement with the many communities of which Cardiff is part. This includes major international and national celebrations, public awareness events, seminars, workshops, debates, lectures and exhibitions. The Team’s work involves all academic schools and it also represents the University on a corporate level.
