The common cold is caused by a viral infection of the nose and throat. There are several groups of viruses that cause the common cold and one of the most common is the rhinovirus or 'nose' virus since rhino means nose. The common cold is more common in cold weather than in summer but there are still plenty of colds around in summer particularly when we go on holiday. |
