Buffy Fish Owl

- Possess a diagnostic white patch above the bill, distinguished from Brown Fish Owl by its darker plumage with thicker black streaks.
- Rests in a tree during the day until dusk when it leaves in search of food. They feed on fish, frogs and crustaceans near streams, as well as bats and small birds.
- They tend to be found in forested areas near to a water source so that they can fish.
- Buffy fish owls nest in cavities of rocks or trees and occasionally old bird nests.
- These have been observed on numerous occasions during the evenings around Danau Girang Field Centre.
