Gregarine parasites within a cockroach gut
My key area of research activity is in co-infection biology, exploring the relationships between pathogen species in concomitant infections. I am especially interested in the interaction of pathogens where they are mediated via the host immune system. Within co-infection biology I explore three areas:
- Detection (finding evidence of interaction, particularly in natural pathogen host systems)
- Mechanism (elucidating the form of the interaction between the pathogens)
- Prediction (examining the dynamic consequence of the interactions for both the host and pathogens and exploring the practical and evolutionary consequences)
I am especially interested in the interaction of pathogens where they are mediated via the host immune system.
