The School has a Media Lab which houses high specification networked IBM compatible 10 - 16 computers together with various input and output devices.

The FACILITIES Currently, 13 PCs are located in the design studios, together with A4 scanners and lightboxes. The School supports the use of laptops and wireless networking has recently been introduced. Students have access to a media lab which contains 10 high specification networked IBM compatible computers together with various input and output devices including 3 A1 Plotters, an A3 Colour Printer, 2A1 Hp 8000SA0 PS, 2A0 Hp 5550 Desk, an A4 Black and White Printer and A3 and A4 Scanners. The School has a number of digital cameras, a video camera, laptops and a digital projector for anyone to use for presentation work. The lecture theatres in the School are also equipped with PCs and digital projectors.

In addition to the facilities provided by the School, 'open-access' computing facilities are available in the Bute Library and also at other locations around the University. Some of these can be block-booked for teaching purposes. The School aims to provide students with a wide array of software for computer aided design, and digital presentation including:

3D/CAD (Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Sketchup and Microstation)

Digital Media (Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe In-design)

Environmental Design (Ecotect)

These are available on the computer network and are therefore available anywhere on the campus
