History and Archaeology
Dr Alex Bayliss is a researcher based at English Heritage. She is currently collaborating with Professor Alasdair Whittle and colleagues in Cardiff University's School of History, Archaeology and Religion on a series of research projects. She uses the Condor service to run an application called OxCal which uses Bayesian statistics to date archaeological sites and artefacts more precisely.
The figure bottom-right shows sensitivity analyses, which test the reliance of the results on particular aspects of the model (in this case the accuracy of the calibration data or quote error terms on the radiocarbon dates). Condor is critical for running these types of analyses.

The first results have now been published: A Bayliss and A Whittle (eds) 2007 Histories of the Dead: building chronologies for five southern British long barrows, Cambridge Archaeological Journal 17/1 (supplement), and have generated wide interest.
