Cardiff University provides a package of support measures which we hope will encourage care leavers to study with us and help students to settle in, focus on their studies and graduate successfully. The package of support is available while deciding what or where to study, continues through the application process, and for the duration of the course.
We have been awarded the Buttle UK Quality Mark, which recognizes the “exemplary level of support” that we provide to students who have spent time in local authority care.
- Support before you go to university

Meet our Key Contact for care leavers.
Einir Evans is Cardiff University’s Key Contact for care leavers. Einir can be your first point of contact should you have any concerns or issues before you arrive and while you study at Cardiff University. Einir can assist you on a range of issues such as financial support, money management, housing, employment and academic related. Einir is seen as a “problem solver” and a point of referral to other support services within and outside the University where appropriate (and with your express permission). She will be in contact with you before you start University and will be available to meet with you regularly while you are at Cardiff University, should you wish to. Whether you are a care leaver or you work with care leavers, feel free to get in contact with her.
