Menna Richards

Ms Menna Richards was the first woman to be appointed to the post of Controller of BBC Wales, a post she held from 2000 – 2011.
Previously, she was Managing Director of HTV Wales, again the first woman to hold the post.
Since leaving the BBC last year she has been appointed to a number of non-executive roles with Welsh Water; Principality Building Society and Welsh National Opera.
She is a former: Chair of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, board member of the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation and served as a member of the Cardiff University Council from 1995-2001. She also served as a member of the University’s Court from 1995 for seven years and on its External Relations Committee for three years from 1998.
On 1 August 2007, Menna became Cardiff University’s Vice-President - a position she will hold until 31 July 2015; and she became an Honorary Fellow of the University on 17 July 2007. She is also a member of the International Advisory Panel of Cardiff Business School.
Menna is an honorary fellow of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth; Glyndwr University; Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (where she is also Vice-President); Trinity St David’s; Cardiff Metropolitan University and a fellow of the Royal Television Society.
She was awarded the OBE for services to broadcasting in 2010.
