Teaching

A Maths Class

The University gives a high priority to the provision of a stimulating environment for the support and promotion of teaching and learning.

Teaching and learning at Cardiff develops the intellectual skills and self-reliance that equips our students to deal with complexity and uncertainty and to question and analyse existing orthodoxies. In addition to providing high-level subject-specific skills and knowledge, such teaching ensures these are "transferable" skills which provide value throughout life.

Our teaching and learning take place in a research environment where students benefit from interaction with researchers who are working at the frontiers of knowledge in their disciplines. Research conducted at the University is vigorous and pioneering and this creates a stimulating environment for study.

Teaching at Cardiff University received a robust endorsement in a recent audit conducted by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. Following interviews with students and other stakeholders, and scrutiny of thousands of Cardiff University documents, the Audit confirmed that prospective and current students, parents, teachers and graduate employers can continue to have every confidence in the quality and standards of Cardiff's awards and provision.

In addition to the many programmes of study available at undergraduate and postgraduate level, Cardiff University, through the Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning, is also the the largest provider of adult education in Wales, with 700 courses taught at some 30 venues across South East Wales. The University's lifelong learning activities also encompass professional development work for employers, including custom-made courses.
